Neymar Set for Emotional Return to Santos

Brazilian Star Close to Rejoining His Boyhood Club

Neymar is on the verge of completing a sensational return to Santos FC, the club where he first rose to prominence, according to L’Equipe. The 32-year-old Brazilian forward is expected to leave Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal at the end of his contract in June 2025.

A Short-Lived Saudi Stint

Al-Hilal signed Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2023 for a €90 million fee, making him one of the biggest stars to move to the Saudi Pro League. However, his time in Riyadh was plagued by injuries, limiting him to just seven appearances, in which he scored one goal and provided three assists.

Neymar’s Return: The Details

An agreement is reportedly close between Al-Hilal, Santos, and Neymar, which would see the Brazilian star end his contract early and return to his hometown club.

🔹 Investment in Santos – Neymar and his father, Neymar da Silva Sr, are expected to join an investment fund that will acquire a stake in Santos, further strengthening his ties to the club.
🔹 Contract Termination – The deal would help facilitate Neymar’s departure from Al-Hilal, allowing him to return home earlier than planned.
🔹 Lucrative Contract – Santos will offer Neymar a financially attractive deal, ensuring he remains one of the highest-paid players in Brazil.

MLS Interest from Chicago Fire

Before finalizing his move to Santos, Major League Soccer (MLS) side Chicago Fire expressed interest in signing Neymar. However, it now appears the Brazilian forward is prioritizing a return to his roots rather than a move to the United States.

Neymar’s Journey: From Santos to the World

Neymar first burst onto the scene at Santos FC, dazzling fans with his incredible dribbling and finishing skills.

🔹 2009-2013: Santos FC – Won the Copa Libertadores in 2011, the club’s first since Pelé’s era.
🔹 2013-2017: FC Barcelona – Formed a legendary attacking trio (MSN) with Messi and Suárez, winning the Champions League in 2015.
🔹 2017-2023: Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) – Became the world’s most expensive player after a €222 million transfer. Won multiple Ligue 1 titles and led PSG to the Champions League final in 2020.
🔹 2023-2025: Al-Hilal – Limited impact due to injuries in Saudi Arabia.

What’s Next?

With the deal nearly complete, Neymar is set to reignite his career back in Brazil, bringing global attention to Santos and Brazilian football.
